Forever Texas Dance was created specifically for high school and college dancers. Whether you need summer hours for your high school dance team/studio, or are just looking for dance classes to take during the summer, you have come to the right place! Four summer intensives will take place in the Heart of Texas at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. At the end of each intensive, dancers will get the chance to learn about Texas State Univeristy, see a performance from the Texas State Strutters, and have a chance to Q&A with the Strutters and Strutters Director. Forever Texas Dance is built from a mixture of high school, collegiate, and professional Texas dance team experience from Selina Flores.
Selina Flores began her dance education at the age of three and was trained in ballet, tap, and jazz in San Antonio, TX. She joined her middle school dance team and served as an officer. She was a member of the Smithson Valley High School Dance Team for four years serving as a Junior Lieutenant and Senior Head Captain. She received awards and scholarships for Miss High Kick throughout camp and competitions.
Selina is a graduate of Texas State University where she was a first-year member, Lieutenant for two years, and the Head Captain of the Texas State Strutters Dance Team. She was a member of the Strutters Jazz Elite Performance Team and Pom squad for all four years while under the direction of the second Strutters Director, Susan Angell-Gonzales and the third Strutters Director, Tammy Fife. Selina had the opportunity to travel with Strutters to New York City to perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and Paris Disney for the day parade. During her time in college, she also taught at a studio ranging in ages from 2-18 teaching ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and drill team prep.
Upon graduation Selina was on a professional arena football team dance team for one year serving as a Group Leader under the direction of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader alumni, Maya Hayes. The following year Selina was selected as a member of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for two years. While on the team she performed with Eric Church and Thomas Rhett during nationally televised halftime shows, performed in the Hall of Fame game in Canton Ohio, and was selected to go on the 82nd USO tour to Air Force bases around the nation.
Following her professional experience she was the Assistant Director for the award winning Langham Creek High School Bailadoras Dance Team and Fine Arts dance teacher in Cypress Fairbanks ISD in Houston, TX. She is also on staff in her 10th year at ShowMakers of America Dance Company.
Selina was named Assistant Strutters Director in 2020 and the fourth Texas State Strutters Director in 2021. She has created the Strutters Fall Spectacular Show. She also took the Strutters to perform a show at the waterside stage in Disney Springs for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.
